Past Projects

PLATON

PLATON (Promoting innovative Learning Approaches for the Teaching Of Natural sciences) was a 2-year EU Erasmus+ funded project which ran from September 2016 – 2018. The project focussed on interdisciplinary learning and teaching and using inquiry in both the primary and secondary classroom and created a number of online tools and resources which are freely available in a number of European languages, to all educators.

You can read more about the project, and access the cross-curricular resources here – http://platon-project.eu/

Go-Lab

Go-Lab was an EU FP7-funded project which ran from 2012 – 2016 with the aim of opening up remote science laboratories and their online models (online labs) for large-scale use in education.

Aimed at school students between the ages of 10-18 years, Go-Lab gave pupils across Europe, the opportunity to perform personalized scientific experiments with specially designed online labs in their classroom.

You can read more about the project, and run through the online labs here: https://www.golabz.eu/

Discover the Cosmos

Discover the Cosmos (DtC) was an EU FP7-funded project which ran from 2011 – 2013 aiming to demonstrate innovative ways to involve teachers and students in eScience through the use of existing e-infrastructures in order to spark young people’s interest in science and in following scientific careers.

As part of this project, the Discover the COSMOS portal was created – this experimental laboratory for students and teachers aimed to improve science instruction by expanding the resources for teaching and learning in schools, providing more challenging and authentic learning experiences.

You can access the Discover the COSMOS portal and resources, virtual experiments and online labs from the fields of Astronomy and High Energy Physics (HEP) here: http://portal.discoverthecosmos.eu/
