Support & Training Forums : Quickstart Guide

The FT Support and Training forums have been put in place to enable users to ask questions but also contribute to answering questions. The main forums are open to the public to browse and search, but in order to contribute you must apply for an account using your telescope account username and the e-mail address that this is associated with. You will find a link to the registration form at the top of every page.

Browsing the Forums

To have a look at questions posted in a particular forum you can simply click on the name of the forum which will take you to a contents page. Here you will see a table of questions or comments that are known as threads. To read the contents of a thread, click on the name of the thread and you will be able to see the first post and replies, if there have been any.

Searching the Forums

Searching the forum is simple, at the top of every page you will find a search button. Clicking on this will take you to a page where you can search for what you want.

Asking a Question

To ask a new question in the forum is called starting a Thread. To do this all you have to do is click on New Thread and a new window will appear.

Enter a subject for your question so that other users and FT staff can see what you question is about, and then enter the message in the box below. When you are happy with your message, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Post Thread. By default, when someone replies to your message you will receive an email telling you someone has answered.

Replying to a Thread

Replying to a thread is just as simple as creating a new one. At the bottom of every thread, if you are logged in, you will find a quick reply bow that allows you to post a reply. If you would like to use more of the forums features, use the 'Reply to Thread' buttons on the page.
