FT Project in Poland
Teachers from 8 European countries: Italy, UK, France, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Sweden used the Faulkes Telescopes North during observing sessions organized during a meeting of the Hands-On Universe Europe project in Torun, the birthplace of Nicolaus Copernicus.
The workshop, sponsored by EU through the Minerva program, gathered together about 40 teachers and educators from the participating countries.
Good weather allowed the teachers to collect many interesting images, which are now displayed on the project website. The target list was prepared by Krzysztof Rochowicz, a professional astronomer and a physics teacher at one of Torun's high schools.
Since September 2005 Krzysztof, together with 4 other Polish teachers, has been able to access the Faulkes Telescope North thanks to a special programme developed jointly by the British Council in Warsaw, the Faulkes Telescope Project and the Hands-On Universe Europe project.
