Get Published in Astronomy Now
Updated - 10 Feb 2006
The Faulkes Telescope Project has an arrangement with Astronomy Now to supply an image each month for a page in the magazine. We are very keen to promote the images taken by our users, in particular schools. If you would like to get one of your images published here is what you need to do...
1) Take an image using the Faulkes Telescope.
2) Download the FITS files for your image.
3) Produce a colour image from the FITS files using the methods described in the following link or a method of your own click here for more information.
4) Submit the FITS files used as well as the resulting colour image (TIFF format please) along with 150 words about the object in your image and how you processed it (explaining what software you used). You should send your FITS files, TIFF image and 150 words as a ZIP file to
jon.yardley@faulkes-telescope.com
Make sure you also tell us who the observers and image processors are.
We will pick one image per month to submit to Astronomy Now. Only images of a high technical quality can be sent for publication.
If the image we choose is from a school and students names are to be published then we will require written confirmation on school letterhead confirming you have permission from the parents of the students that their names can be published. We reserve the right to protect the identity of students and shorten their names to protect their privacy.
