FT and NSO combine for Connect2Sikhi Residential Summer Camp

Fraser Lewis from the Faulkes Telescope Project and the National Schools' Observatory recently participated, along with Professor Andy Newsam of the National Schools’ Observatory, in a day of events at a Kids Camp in Chigwell, Essex. The event was the Connect2Sikhi Residential Summer Camp at the Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College camps.

Pupils aged from 6 to 18 took part in a range of activities based around sport and health as well as participating in a set of astronomical activities. These included looking at meteorites, understanding what supernovae are and calculating the size of our Solar System using toilet roll! They also took part in an interactive open cluster activity where the students ‘built’ their own colour-magnitude diagram as can be seen in the image below.
