FT Stargazing Event at the National Museum of Wales
In conjunction with the BBC’s Stargazing Live event, the FT
team (augmented by students on University
of Glamorgan’s BSc in
Observational Astronomy) were present at ‘Star Attractions’ held at the
National Museum of Wales on Saturday, 21st January.
This all-day event featured displays by FT, the University of Glamorgan and Cardiff University as well as demonstrations from the museum itself.
As well as talking about the FT project, visitors were able to handle meteorites and see what it was like to look through Galileo and Newton’s telescopes, comparing them with the telescopes available to modern day stargazers. Over the course of the day, around 3000 people attended this event.
