Astroschools Project - schools wanted!

Starting in September 2011, a network of around 10 secondary schools in the West Midlands will be set up to pilot a programme known as AstroSchools. This pilot project is a joint venture between the Faulkes Telescope Project and the National Schools Observatory, and is funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC).

The aim of AstroSchools is to train teachers in a particular school to create what will become the "hub" of a local astronomy-education network.  The AstroSchool will receive specialist training in a wide range of resources that can be used to support the teaching of astronomy at KS3, KS4, A level, GCSE Astronomy and extra-curricular clubs. The school will then be expected to disseminate this good practice locally by partnering with at least 2 other schools.

Following the pilot, it is hoped the scheme can be expanded nationally.
