Asteroid Rotation Themed Observing Programme
The Faulkes Telescope Project is running a themed observing programme on Wednesday, 12th December based around asteroid rotation.
An asteroid is going to be observed over a period of 4 hours. During this time each user will observe for 30 minutes. The combined data from all users will be analysed and the change in the brightness of the asteroid will be plotted to show a light curve. This will be used to estimate how fast the asteroid is rotating.
Finding the rotation period of the asteroid is the goal of the programme.
We now run our themed observing programmes in Moodle, an online learning environment. The materials lead you through what you need to know, and how to carry out the practical aspects of the programme.
