Introduction

On Wednesday 23rd May, the FT Team ran a themed observing day for which all of the observations on this date were used to create a poster based around the Life Cycle of Stars.

Open Clusters, Globular Clusters and Nebulae which are all examples of stars in different stages of their lives were observed.

The FT Team produced an A3 Life Cycle of Stars poster using the data obtained which users can download.

Users and students can produce their own poster designs using their images along with images taken by other participating users either by using Image Processing software such as The GIMP or Photoshop. Editable versions of the poster above are available in PSD (Photoshop) & DOC (MS Word) formats. Students can even print out their images, and cut & stick to create their own posters.

Note: Because these files contain all of the raw elements to the poster, they are quite large.

You can also download some introductory science on the Life Cycle of Stars available in PDF format.

Sessions were available from 0830 UTC until 1200 UTC (0930 to 1300 UK Local Time).

When users signed up for a session, they were allocated several objects to observe, along with the filters and exposure times to use. The data is available for all users to download on the page above.
